Jammu|Sep 29
Normal life returned to normal in border township of Poonch, which witnessed communal tension on Friday after angry protest demonstrations rocked the town.
Though over half a dozen people including two officers from police and revenue department were injured when protestors clashed with police on Friday afternoon in the town, the situation remained completely normal throughout the day, today.
All the shops and other business establishments were opened today, while normal vehicle was seen plying on the roads. Education institutions and government offices also functioned normally on Saturday.
However, authorities had deployed good number of police and paramilitary personnel in and around the township to avoid any clash.
Officiating Superintendent of Police Poonch Tahir Bhatt said that the situation was under control and there was no untoward incident reported from any part of the district today.
He said that the adequate number of police personnel have been deployed in the town as a precautionary measure.
Trouble erupted in the town on Friday when members of a particular community came on the road in protest against the alleged stone pelting by some miscreants on Jamia Masjid leading to injuries to two persons.
Over half a dozen people, including a SI and a revenue officer, were injured in the subsequent clash between the police and the protestors in the town.
