Tributes paid to Bhagat Singh

In an impressive function organized in connection with the birthday centenary celebrations of Bhagat Singh by Ward No. 1 and 2 of BJP Jammu East Mandal, over 100 veteran social and political figures of the area were felicitated by offering traditional Dogra pagris and momentous by BJP State President Ashok Khajuria, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Moti Lal Raina, a well-known Sanskrit Scholar and great Dogra nationalist presided over the function
The function commenced with the lightening of lamp and garlanding the portrait of Bhagat Singh by Ashok Khajuria and other prominent leaders of BJP. Dogra pagri and a sword were presented to Ashok Khajuria by the organizers of the function.
Ashok Khajuria, while remembering the great sacrifice of Bhagat Singh and his colleagues, said that the present day situation in the country, J&K in particular, is in dire need of such patriotic youth as the parties like NC and PDP are demanding Autonomy and Self-rule and the Congress is acting as a mute spectator. He said the Jammu-based leaders have become puppets in the hands of Kashmiri leadership and are harming the interests of Dogras for their personal benefits. The need of the hour is to get united and start a massive campaign against all such elements who are siding with the separatists and fundamentalists and thus promoting their anti India agendas.
Ashok Khajuria said the true homage to Shaheed Bhagat Singh will be to take lesson from his life, support BJP in the next assembly elections to ensure its victory in atleast 20 assembly seats to strengthen the nationalist forces in the state and end the 60 year old slavery and discrimination. He ended his address with an appeal in a Dogri Stanza—"Wake up the brave Dogras to get rid off Kashmiri domination". He declared that the BJP would play a very important role in the next government formation it would work sincerely and with dedication to give a corruption free, and people -friendly government.
Ashok Khajuria demanded installation of a statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Jewel Chowk and declaration of holiday on his birth or Shaheedi Diwas.
The function witnessed tears in every one’s eyes when Distt. Secretary Karan singh, in his heart touching speech, narrated the life of Bhagat Singh and his mother’s words after he was hanged to death by the British.
BJP leaders including Yudhvir Sethi, Ramesh Sharma, Lalit Sharma, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, Naresh Abrol and Shashikant Sapolia also addressed the function.
Dr. Moti Lal Raina, Krishna Anand, Lakshmi Chand Khajuria, Durga Dass, Smt. Darshna Devi, Bua Dass, Smt. Vinod Sharma, Shiv Mehta, Bansi Lal Bharti, Murari Lal, Ramesh Sharma, Jagdish Kumar, Munish Sharma, Naresh Pradhan, Pardeep Sharma, Vijay Pahalwan, Balbir Singh and Ashish Gupta were prominent among those who were felicitated on the occasion for their marvellous towards the national cause in the state right from the days of Praja Parishad and present day BJP.
