| 2 J&K Players participating in world championship at Russia | | DDC Samba inaugurates 10-day fencing coaching | | Early Times Reporter Samba | Sep 30 District Development Commissioner Samba Mr. B. S. Jamwal inaugurated a 10- day coaching camp for fencing, an indoor Olympic game, held at a border village Rajpura, Ghagawal in which 160 students from 25 schools will participate. This coaching camp will give an opportunity to the selected students to take part in district championship to be organized on 7 and 8 October, 2007. The DDC was informed that at present 2 fencing players from Jammu and Kashmir are participating in world championship being played in Russia. He was further apprised that 5 students, selected during a camp held at Ghagawal last year, took part in the national level competition in which Miss Anuradha Chauhan brought a bronze medal to the state. Wishing all success to the organizer and participants of the camp, the DDC exhorted upon the students fraternity to vigorously adopt this game which has vast scope in excelling at national and international level as being an Olympic game it has 30 medals to present to the players. President J&K Amateur Fencing Association Mukerjeet (IFS) explained the salient feature of the game and expressed gratitude to the DDC for attending the camp and encouraging the participants and organizer as well. Chief Planning Officer, Samba H. H. Dutt, ACD Indu Kanwal Chib, International Fencing Coach, State Coach and other senior officer were present on the occasion. |
