| Allow KP’s to visit Sharda Temple | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu Sep 30 The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic forum (JKDF) have urged upon the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) government to allow Kashmiri Pandits (KP) to visit the ancient shrine of ‘Sharda Devi’ in Muzaffarabad in wake of resumption of Srinagar Muzaffarabad bus service. It will be a good step as people will get an opportunity to visit this historic temple on the birth anniversary of goddess Saraswati which falls on October 2007. In a letter to prime minister of PoK Sardar Atiq Khan.Pandit Bazaz said the move will go a long way to ensure lasting peace in the regions and normalization of relations between the two countries. The PoK government earlier allocated Rs. One million for the renovation of the Sharda Temple. The temple is dedicated to goddess Saraswati and located in the Kishanganga valley just across the line of control in a small village called Shardi at the confluence of River Kishangang and River Jhelum. The Kashmiri Pandits have long been demanding permission to visit PoK to undertake annual pilgrimage to the Sharda Temple, which is about 150 km. from Muzaffarbad. |
