| Army Wields Guns for Animal Welfare | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 30 Army vets for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir state used latest Drenclaing guns to deworm thousands of civilian cattle in the Kathar Veterinary Aid camp at Manwal, today. Colonel Navaz Shariff, Commandant 3 Advance Field Veterinary Hospital said that the usefulness of the deworming guns could be gauged by huge number of animals which were deworned in a short period and with accuracy of measured doses of the drug. Many heads of cattle were deworned with military precisions. Another popular features of the camp was the spot field surgery which was carried out by Expert team of Army Veterinary Surgeons lead by the Commandant and Surgeons from Jammu Veterinary college. The veterinary Aid camp was inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School Kathar (Manwal) by Brigadier SP Joshi, Officiating Commander, 71 Sub Area. Brigadier ML Sharma, Brigadier Remount Veterinary Services was also present on the occasion. Commander presented a Drinking water purification plant to the principal of the school, were camp was held. Additional attractions at the camp included various stalls established by Department of animal husbandry; sheep farming and other Jammu and Kashmir Govt. based agricultural and rural development agencies. They exhibited their schemes and programme for benefit of the local population. Army ex-servicemen help line, ECHS Poly Clinic, stall of Military Farm and Zila Sainik Welfare board officials were present to address grievances, help and guide ex-servicemen and civilians. The camp received overwhelming response from the villagers who expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Army desired many such camps be organized to give relief to animals. |
