Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 30 Two-day Jammu district Karate-Do Championship, organized by the Jammu District Karate-Do Association, concluded today with the holding of prize distribution function at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here. Additional Deputy Inspector General of CRPF, Yogendra Kumar Mathur was chief guest in the valedictory function which was also attended by hosts of parents and participants. Deputy Commandant of CRPF, Ratikanta Behera was guest of honour. In all, according to the organizers, about 200 karatekas representing different clubs and schools took part in this competition. The championship was organized under the supervision of Sanjeev Devan, Manoj Mehra, Naresh Chander and Brijesh Bhau, all referees. The results: Under-5 year girls Kumite: Aayushi Verma, Ist and Ayushi Jamwal, 2nd. 5-7 year girls Kumite: Garima, Ist; Vasudha, 2nd and Vishali Gosh, third. 7-9 year girls Kumite: Ambika, Ist; Shagun, 2nd; Muskan and Palak, joint third. 9-11 year Kumite: Akanksha Mengi, Ist; Sugandh Sharma, 2nd and Mansi, third. 11-13 year: Shivalini Gosh, Ist; Farrah, 2nd and Aiman Hijab Shah, third. 15-18: Indu Chib, Ist; Upasana, 2nd and Sapna Pawar, third. 13-15 year boys: Arnay Aima, Ist; Sahil Chadha, 2nd; Kushpal Singh and Numan Ashraf, joint third. 15-18 year: Gulshan Raina, Ist; Vinod Kumar, 2nd; Aman Deep Singh and Rahul Sharma, joint third.
Competition disrupted
Amidst allegations of denial of permission to take part in the district and state level competitions by the Amateur Karate Do Association of Jammu and Kashmir and its district unit to other three disciplines of the four disciplines game, the competition was disrupted by some individuals yesterday. However, the competition resumed later on the assurance given by the Association general secretary, Manoj Mehra that the demand of people representing other disciplines would be considered sympathetically. |
