| Peerzada launches Website of S&T Deptt | | | Early Times Reporter

Jammu and Kashmir State Council for Science and Technology endeavours to harness the potential of Science & Technology as instrument of socio-economic change and strives to ensure that efforts in Science and Technology are not only restricted to scientific laboratories and academic institutions but percolate to the grass root, so that science, technology and innovation increasingly become part of the every day life of our state.
This was stated by Minister for Education, Science and Technology Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed after inaugurating website http://jkdemo 1.nic.in/jksandtcouncil/stcouncil/index.html developed by NIC unit of J&K State, for which information has been provided by J&K State Council for Science and Technology.
Sayeed said that the department conducts various programmes like Science Popularization Programme like children Science Congress, Brain Storming Sessions, Extension Lectures, Publication of Popular Science Magazine, Science Talent Promotion Tests and confers awards to young scientists and provides fellowships and assistance to them. He stressed on the department to sponsor research project for the development of scientific temper and overall development of the state.
Sayeed was informed that the council has set up genetic counseling and Research centres at Government Medical College Jammu, University of Jammu and SKIMS Srinagar for detection and counseling of patients suffering from various genetic disorders.
The function was attended by the Director S&T DR. H. S Arora, Joint Director S&T Altaf Ahmad Bhat, Dy. Director S&T Nasir Shah, Additional Director Dr. V. K. Koul, Additional Secretary K. B. Mangotra, Dy. Director S&T Mushtaq Ahmad and DIO, NIC K. L. Pandita.
