JKCA failed to admire my talent, provide me a chance: Abid
Dhruv Mahajan joins Abid in ICL

SANJEEV SHARMA
Jammu | Oct 1
Taking a cue from the immensely talented speedster Abid Nabi Ahanger, young former skipper of Jammu and Kashmir, Dhruv Mahajan has also joined the Essel group’s Indian Cricket League (ICL).
Receiving a green signal from the ICL officials today, Dhruv disclosed that he has entered into a contract with the ICL. “Yes, I have also joined the ICL and an intimation in this regard has been received by me today,” Dhruv told the Sports & Allied News (SAN).
In the meantime, two more state cricketers have been packing their cricket kits to join the leading state cricketers, Abid Nabi and Dhruv Mahajan.
Abid Nabi has become a catalyst for other cricketers of his ilk, who had been feeling suffocated since long.
Talking to the SAN from Srinagar on telephone, Abid Nabi confirmed that he has joined the ICL considering a bright future ahead.
“I played Ranji plate group but no body helped me in getting a chance to exhibit my talent, this is one of the many reasons that forced me to join the professional league,” said Abid.
Abid had no hesitation in saying that one must avail the opportunity to show his talent. “The JKCA never saw my talent leave aside advocating my case at the decision making level. Now, I want to prove myself,” asserted Abid.
He said that every cricketer would love to play with world famed cricketers like Chris Cairns, Chris Harris, Azar Mahmood and Inzmam-ul-Haq.
“Though I have no personal grudge with the JKCA and its officials but at the same time I cannot forget the agony and sufferings I had to face in the last two years,” said Abid when asked how he feels about departing from the JKCA.
Meanwhile, the high profile JKCA general secretary, Salim Khan reportedly denied the news of Abid joining the ICL.
“I think he (Salim Khan) might have been unaware of my decision, but I want to make it clear to the JKCA that I have joined the ICL”, said Abid.
Like Abid, three other cricketers in the state, who are likely to join ICL brought to the fore mess in JKCA (Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association) and its subsequent failure to run cricket professionally.
In addition, these cricketers see a bright future ahead in the company of world famous cricketers.
“It is always a long cherished dream of every cricketer to play international cricket in his life and when opportunity has knocked at my door, I don’t want to waste it. For that matter no cricketer can afford to miss the bus,” said the former skipper, who pleaded anonymity.
Other young cricketers had all praise for Abid for taking the brave decision saying that the bowler who has not been able to find a regular coach to correct his weaknesses, will be able to sharpen his skills in the company of international bowlers.
“The dubious character of the JKCA officials and the infighting have already caused a great damage to the Association and I’m sure the way talented cricketers are deserting the BCCI manned cricket, the game has a dark future in the state,” said a senior cricketer, who though not an active cricket yet takes a lot of interest in the game.
