| VOJ presents challan against SI Police for accepting graft | | | Early Times Reporter

Vigilance Organization Jammu today plan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against Nazir Ahmed, the then Sub-Inspector I/C Police Post Bathindi, who demanded and accepted Rs 20,000 on two occasions as illegal gratification from the complainant.
Shah Mohammad s/o Haji Mohd Ali r/o Sunjawan complainant filed a written complaint before the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against the accused Sub-Inspector. The said complaint was forward to the Commissioner of Vigilance for taking necessary action into the matter. Accordingly a preliminary enquiry was got conducted and from the outcome of preliminary enquiry the case was registered and investigation started. In the complaint the complainant alleged that the said SI Nazir Ahmed, the then Incharge P/P Bathindi, visited the house of the complainant at Sunjawan on July 5, 2005 at 8.00 PM and demanded and accepted Rs 15000 from the complainant for not implicating the complainant and his brother in a case of kidnapping. It is further alleged that SI arrested the nephew of complainant namely Zulfkar Ali and demanded Rs 5, 000 which was accepted by the then SI P/P Bathindi for releasing Zulifkar Ali.
After completion of the investigation, the allegations established and challan u/s 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K PC Act 2006 BK, 161 and 342 RPC was presented in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh directed accused to furnish the bail bond and personal bond to the tune of Rs 10,000 each failing which he will be sent to judicial lock-up. The accused on direction to the court furnished the bail bond and personal bond. JNF |
