Gandhi’s message transcends world barriers: Sinha

Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) S K Sinha today paid rich tributes to the Father of Nation saying that he was a visionary committed to truth, universal brotherhood and high values.
‘The message of the Mahatma for peace, non-violence and amity has increasing relevance in today’s world that is threatened by unprecedented violence as also hatred and intolerance’, Governor, who is currently in Pune said in a message on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
He said that the struggle of Mahatma Gandhi against racism and suppression of downtrodden made him taller than the tallest leader of his time. His resolve and inflexible consistency for uplifting the lot of poor, eradication of untouchability and strengthening communal amity influenced great man across the world, he added.
The Governor said that Gandhiji’s unflinching faith in non-violence and truth has been a source of inspirational and strength for the people of this great nation. Real tribute to him, he said that, "future generation may scarcely believe that such a person in flesh and blood walked upon this earth".
‘May the memory of this great saint of 20th century inspire all races in their odyssey towards liberty and justice and may his lofty ideals of mutual understanding prevail over violence’, the Governor said, adding that the best tribute to Gandhiji would be strengthen the bonds of universal brotherhood and love and striving for a harmonious world.
The Governor said that the philosphy of Mahatma Gandhi has transcended borders and is relevant for all times to come in a world which is plagued with the menace of violence in the form of terrorism.
