| Visti to sharda shrine: Kashmir Pandits detained in Uri, sent back | | | Ealry Times Reporter Uri | Oct 2 Inspired by Mahatma Gandhis' Dandi March, a twenty member team of Kashmiri pandits determined to visit Sharda Shrine in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) could not go beyond Uri onTuesday morning as they were first detained by local police authorities for over three hours and were later asked to return to Srinagar after they submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister through Sub Divisional Magistrate. "We wanted to visit famous Sharda Shrine in POK as part of peace mission but police authorities didn't allow us to move further and detained us saying that we cannot cross the Line of control without prior permission, Ramesh Hangloo a Kashmir pandit and a social activist accompanying several other Kashmir pandits said on his way back. It may be mentioned that a 20 member team of Pir Panchal led by P N Taku, president Durga Nag Trust Srinagar left for Sharda temple in Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK) from Jammu without taking prior permission. Hangloo said that a group of Kashmir pandits decided to undertake the journey to their famous shrine as govt had failed to grant them permission for the said mission.He said he fail to understand reasons behind delay.When members of the divided families can travel on cross -LOC bus why not a delegation of Kashmir pandits to POK visit their shrine. He said several sikh devotees each year visit Pakistan and perform darshan but visit of Kashmir pandits through this route was not accorded top priority by the govt for past several years and the same is getting delayed for no concrete reason. |
