Jammu | Oct 2
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in a communication to Balraj Puri has informed that concerned authorities were examining the possibility to allow the Haj aspirants from Jammu region to board a flight to Jeddah either from Srinagar on Delhi.
This assurance was given by the Prime Minister in response to the demand made by Puri to allow aspiring Haj pilgrims from Jammu region the option to board a flight to Jeddah either from Srinagar or Delhi as boarding at Delhi would be more convenient and less expensive.
Puri in his communication to the PM had demanded granting option to aspiring Haj pilgrims to reach Delhi by over night train than to undertake the long journey from Jammu to Srinagar which is subject to vagaries of weather and required the Hajis to equip themselves with woolens necessary in the summer capital of the state.
Puri in a hand out said that PM responding to his demand has said that the matter is being looked into by the concerned agencies.
