Early Times Reporter Jammmu | Oct 2 Celebrating the Gandhi Jayanti as International Non-violence Day, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) organised a rally involving over 3000 students drawn from different educational institutions. The rally which also got support from School Education Department and Scouts and Guides organization, was flagged off from MA Stadium this morning by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey. The rally which culminated at Mubarak Mandi passed through Pt Prem Nath Dogra Chowk, Vinayak Bazar, Gurdwara Sunder Singh Road, Raghunath Bazaar, City Chowk, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar and Chowk Chabutra. Enroute different social and religious organizations greeted the participants and offered sweets and fruits. On reaching Mubarak Mandi, the rally was addressed by the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma. Prominent among those present were Director Youth Services and Sports, Ravinder Gupta, Deputy Director SA Wani, Assistant Director, SS Bali, District Officer, Jai Raj and other officials from sports and education departments. |
