| NMC seeks release of DA arrears | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 2 Subash Shastri President National Mazdoor Conference has appealed the Chief Minster to release the pending installment of DA due from July this year at 6 per cent in favour of the employees of the state Governments and pensioners before the coming festival of Eid-ul-fitar in view of increasing inflation and price hike of the essential commodities as this installment have already been released by the central as well as several state governments to their employees and pensioners. Addressing a NMC workers meeting at Rani Park today, Shastri said that prices of all essential commodities have going up considerably, there was no justification on the part of the Govt., for with holding this installment for their employees and pensioners. Shastri further hoped that the decision in releasing would be taken in the next cabinet. Shastri has also urged Dr. Singh to declare Jammu and Srinagar B-1 cities of state. Describing the previous year as the year of salaried class since Chief Minister took historic decision such as Quick release of all pending DA installment, enhancement of medical allowance and several other measures. He said that current year should be the year of the daily wagers adding that their services should be regularized in one go. Grant of disturbed area allowance of the pattern of north eastern state in favour of both central and state government employees, Grant of bonus, enhancement in the wages of daily wagers besides their regularization and enhance the income tax exemption limit to Rs. 2 lakhs were other demands highlighted in the meeting. Those who also spoke on the occasion which included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sohan Lal, Bhupinder Singh, Mohan Lal, Mohd. Rafiq, Subash Chander and others. |
