A 25- member group, including five women of Pir Panchal, en- route to revered and ancient Sharda Peth temple at Muzaffarbad in Pak-occupied Kashmir were stopped at Panch Chinar at Uri. They were stopped at Panch Chinar by 12 brigade of Indian Army for about three hours and were not allowed to proceed towards the ancient temple. .
Talking to Early Times, Vinod Pandita, Chairman, APMCC, who was also a member of delegation to Sharda Peth, said that, we were not even allowed go up to the Aman Seth (Peace bridge)
He alleged that several officers of the local administration including SDM Uri and SDPO did not allow the delegation to move beyond the Panch China on the pretext that granting permission to move ahead was not within their jurisdiction.
Following refusal of permission to move ahead, the delegation members joined by their local KP brethren blocked the road and disrupted the vehicular movement of traffic for nearly two hours .
Among others present were Ramesh Hangloo, Manoj Jad and Adarsh Anand.
