Ten thousand children gather to pay tributes to father of nation
Mangat asks students to follow Mahatma’s teachings

Describing Mahatma Gandhi and his Philosophy as a guiding spirit to take world out from the quagmire of war and violence, Minister for Health Medical Education Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma today called upon the youth to follow his teachings to make the earth safe for the future generations. Sharma was addressing a strong rally of over ten thousand students which after passing through various areas of city of temples culminated at historical Diwan-e-Ama Mubarak Mandi Complex park in front of Gandhi Ji’s statue.
Akhil Bhartia Rachnatmak Samaj Sadbhawana Ke Sepahi, Women’s Initiative for Peace in South Asia (WIPSA) along with about half a dozen NGO’s had organized the function in which school children, staff members and heads of various educational institutions participated alongwith senior citizens, representatives of various social, cultural and religious organizations. Children presented cultural, patriotic songs and famous bhajans of Gandhi Ji. Floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi by Mangat Ram Sharma, MLA.s Yogesh Sawhney, Shoyiab Ahmed Lone, MLC R S Chib, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudhanshu Pandey Wing Commander, M.M Joshi, Joint Director Information, S.K Sharma, Joint Commissioner and JMC, J.S Tandon.
Highlighting the role of national heroes like Subhash Chander Bose, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru in securing freedom for India, he said the greatest among them was Mahatma Gandhi who with his unique ideas won global recognition. He said by giving the unique ideas of non violence and Satyagraha, Gandhi showed the world the way to defeat a powerful tyrant.
He said it is since long that the world has recognized the universal appeal of Gandhi’s philosophy and today people all over the globe are observing his birthday as International Day of Non violence even at united nation.
Mangat called upon the participating students to take a pledge to follow the teachings of the Father of Nation and spread them across the world.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sudanshu Pandey said Gandhi gave the Philosophy of Non violence when people have already witnessed the death and destruction of two world wars. He said liberating his country by following the golden principal of non violence Mahatma created a history. “Henceforth his teachings became a guiding spirit not for India but people all over the world”, Mr Pamdey said adding that today entire world is observing his birth anniversary as International Day for Non-violence.
Sharing his experience with the children, he said during his stay there, he was astonished to see that Gandhi Jayanti is being observed with same fervor and gaiety in Germany as in India. On one such occasion, he remembered Mr Arjun Singh, Union Minister for HRD inaugurated a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Frankfurt.
Citing famous sayings of Mahatma, “ Happiness is when, what you think, what you say, what you do are in complete harmony he called upon the children to read the philosophy of Gandhi to garner the strength to face the challenges of the world.
Quoting famous lines of Gandhi Ji “Freedom is not worth having if it does not connotes freedom to err” he said by these lines contains the very spirit which a youth needs to make progress in his life.
Later, Dr Ashwani Dogra, founder Sahyog India and Vinay Kumar Kattal honored and presented Gandhi Ji’s portrait to the Minister and other dignitaries.
Mrs Shakuntala Joshi Regional President Akhil Bhartia Rachnatmak Samaj presented vote of thanks.
