| BSF stops unemployed engineers while trying to cross RS Pura border | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Oct 2 Shouting “we want justice” a group of unemployed engineers, led by Rajiv Sharma and Avinash Gupta, today made an abortive bid to cross the border for, what they said, receiving arms training in camps in Pakistan. The slogan shouting unemployed engineers were stopped by the BSF jawans, guarding the Octroi post in R.S.Pura sector and pushed them back. The agitated unemployed engineers traveled to the border belt in R.S.Pura sector in a matador but were stopped a furlong away from the zero line and pushed back. Later talking to mediamen Rajiv Sharma and Avinash Gupta said that they resorted to the extreme step of crossing the border after the Government failed to implement the assurances it had given to them. They said “we have seen that the Government is keen in rehabilitating those who had been active militants after they surrendered. We also decided to cross over to Pakistan and return after receiving arms training.” They said “we will also indulge in violence and later surrender to seek justice and rehabilitation.” Rajiv Sharma said that the successive state Government have been giving a raw deal to the unemployed educated youth belonging to the Jammu region.” We were told that we should leave the state and hunt for jobs in other states in India. We will leave the country and turn militants if we are not given jobs,” they said. |
