| Private schools defy govt. order, hold classes | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 3 By not following the state government orders to observe holiday on October 3 large number of private school managements have brazenly acted against the wishes of the state govt. On Wednesday when a team of Kashmir Independent Press conducted a random survey in the city it found that almost all the private schools were not observing govt holiday declared by the chief Minister during a special function organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jyanti in Srinagar. Not only this large number of students of govt schools were seen waiting outside their schools as they were not aware of the holiday. The state government had announced the holiday but it was not clear whether it was also meant for private schools or not." We have not received any communication from the state government", a manager of the famous private city school said brushing aside allegations that they had any intentions of by passing state govt orders. On the other hand senior education department authorities have taken serious note of the open defiance by the managements of the private schools and are contemplating action against them for not declaring October 3 a holiday as per the state govt orders. Meanwhile, large number of BEd students who were scheduled to appear for their final teaching practice examination across various schools returned home without appearing in the exam.A batch of students from Rajasthan were amazed to see locks handing outside the class rooms as they had no prior knowledge of the holiday.Two groups have already completed their teaching practice and today it was our turn but we have to come again as the state govt has declared a holiday today, a B.Ed student said. |
