| Lift irrigation scheme Gurha Pattan to be commissioned by Dec: Dilawar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 3 The people of Gurha Pattan, Thathi, Jandial and Rajan, today turned jubilant on hearing from the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr Mohd Dilawar Mir that Lift Irrigation Scheme Gurha Pattan will be commissioned on 15th December this year much ahead of its completion schedule. The scheme will irrigate 348 hectares of barren land in these villages. The Minster who is on three day tour to Jammu division to take stock of ongoing Irrigation, PHE and Flood Control Schemes today inspected the site of Lift Irrigation Scheme Gurha Pattan and in presence of a large number of people directed the Chief Engineer Irrigation, Jammu to complete the scheme by this year. The Minister was accompanied by the Principal Secretary PHE, I&FC, Mr A K Angurana, Chief Engineer I&FC Jammu Mr S K Abrol and concerned engineers. Mr Dilawar also took stock of the upgradation work of prestigious Lift Irrigation Scheme Ranjan which has been designed to pump out 1.20 cusecs of irrigation water but was pumping out only 50 cusecs of water due to voltage shortage. The Minister instructed to install new pumping machinery and automatic voltage regulators (AVR) to enhance the pumping capacity of the lift station, Ranjan. The scheme being completed at an estimated cost of Rs.7.91 crore has a capacity to irrigate 2600 hectares of land and an amount of Rs.4.33 crore have been spent so far. The scheme will be fully completed in 2009-2010. |
