Hundreds of residents of Bhalra-Chinta area of Bhaderwah today staged a protest demonstration and blocked the road near Ghati Morh against the Police for not registering the FIR against the culprits.
According to the sources, last night Abdul Satar Sheikh S/O Din Mohd Sheikh and his son Mohd Amin R/O Bhallra were beaten by some unidentified persons while they were returning home from the market near Gathi Morh. The father-son duo said that the assailants were dead drunk when they intercepted them and used abusive language and then started beating with sharp edged weapon resulting into injuries. The assailants fled away from the spot, sources said adding that the locals shifted the injured to the hospital at Bhaderwah and after treatment they were discharged from the Hospital today.
Sources further said that the family members’ and residents of the village reached Police Station to register the FIR against the culprits but the Police didn’t register their complaint. Despite 48 hours of occurrence of the incident,. which clearly shows that there is some nexus between the culprits and the police.
The sources also revealed that the protesters also burnt effigies and tires and appealed to the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to personally intervene into the matter and enquire why the Police did not register the FIR
ASP Bhadarwah, M.L.Mehra, however, visited the spot and assured that he will personally look into the matter and the culprits will be behind the bars within 24 hours.
