11/15/2016 11:28:52 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 15: In a PIL, seeking a direction to respondents to demolish illegal constructions on Ramban-Gool road and implement the Land Acquisition Act in letter and spirit viz-a-viz the demolishing of illegal constructions, a high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur disposed of the petition with a direction to respondents to look into the matter and ensure that the violators are forced to remove the construction within three months.
It was prayed that the respondents be directed to restrain people of the area for further construction on the acquired land and construct the road as per the BRO guidelines.
The road length between Ramban and Gool is 52 km. It is stated that for the said purpose, the GREF authorities had acquired 80 feet row and paid compensation of the land and houses to the owners through respondents.
It was alleged that the official respondents were allowing land owners to raise illegal construction over the land already acquired by the respondents. Inhabitants of Sangaldan made several representations to the revenue authorities for removal of illegal constructions from the road but no action had been taken by the respondents till date.
The respondents filed their objections, stating that there existed a stream by the roadside and some people, who had raised constructions close to it, had already been issued notices through tehsildar, Gool. They had sought time to remove the constructions, they said. (JNF)
