| Drug controller’s directive on (mis)use of red cross sign | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 4 Sending out clear warning signals drug and Food control organization has issued notices to all pharmacies, chemists, retailers and wholesalers and other drug establishments in Jammu and Kashmir not to misuse the Red Cross emblem otherwise their licenses would not be renewed. The office of the drug controller has also directed them all to use the emblem of green cross on a white background which has been allotted to them instead of misusing red emblem. The controller has threatened to cancel their licences if they continued to use the Red Cross as an emblem instead of green cross. He has informed these chemists and pharmacies that they should not violate section 12 and 13 of the Geneva convention Act of 1960 which was punishable. The licences cancelled on account of violation of the Act would not be renewed, the controller has said directing them to display the green emplem at a prominent place in their establishments. Official sources said that the warning to chemists and druggists was result of complaints received by the drug controller on misuse of red cross emblem not only by pharmacies but by private nursing homes operating ambulances in various parts of the state. |
