Mir declares open a fruit-show

A divisional level fruit show organized by department of horticulture was inaugurated by the horticulture minister, Mohammed Dilawar Mir at Abhinav Theatre here today.
Speaking on the occasion appreciated the working of the department as well as of farmers for organizing fruit show. He advised functionaries to come to the expectation of the farmers and provide every assistance to them for raising the orchards in the division, he assured the farming community for providing all the facilities from the government in every direction of fruit cultivation, and urged upon them created a close liaison with the horticulture department while raising their orchards. He said it will definitely help in improving the economic condition of the farmers off and on and discussion. He also assured the employees that the government will always encourage them for their efficient and good working. He also said that government will take all the measures to ease their problem strawberry growers that has encountered due to torrential rains in the month of March which has caused damage to the crop.
Aijaz Ahammed Khan minister of state on the occasion appreciated the work done by the department of horticulture in Jammu division. He asked the officials to work with more dedication and boost the fruit cultivation in the division in its right perspective.
Director horticulture, Jammu M.S Qasba gave the brief resume of the achievement made by the department in fruit cultivation during last couple of years.
MLA, Sham Lal Sharma, A.K. Angoorana, principal secretary, PHE/Irrigation director research, SKUAST, J.B. Singh, assistant director, NHB, MOA, GOI were also present on the occasion.
The front show was attended by a large gathering including farmers hailing from remote and far flung areas of Jammu division 2709 fruit samples comprising of Apple, Pear, Walnut, Almond, Persimom, Guava, Galgal, Aonla, Kinnow, Lime, Malta, Mosambi, Papaya, Grapes, orange Mango, Pecan Nut, Kimb, quience, Anar, Oliver etc. and 423 value added products were displayed 98 exhibits of different fruits including value added products were selected for the prizes which includes fruit of the Show.
During the occasion the book titled ‘Glimpses of Horticulture in Jammu Division” was released by the Ministers.
