| Girl’s hostel inmates cry for inadequate facilities | | | Vikas Sharma Jammu | Oct 4 While the State government is claiming to have provided every possible facilities to the inmates of various girls hostels, but on the ground the situation is altogether different .The hostel inmates are often found crying for inadequate facilities, being provided to them at the hands of the hostel in charge or warden, responsible for providing these facilities. Some of the girl hostel inmates have strongly denied the tall claims being made by the authorities and maintained that ‘to live in hostels was worth living in hell’. According to the sources, some of the girl inmates of the hostel of Parade Women College alleged that the hostel authorities are not providing the facilities they are entitled to . It is pertinent to mention that Parade Women College is providing residential facilities to those girl students hailing from far off places. Some of the girls putting up in the hostels belonging to high profile families are unable to fit themselves in the hostel as they are not willing to waste their college life under the watchful eyes of a warden which is fully responsible for all deeds and the misdeeds done by these hostel girls. When Early Times contacted the Warden of the Hostel Veena Sharma, she refuted all the charges leveled by these hostel inmates. She informed that the Women College hotel is providing best possible services to around 170 girl students, despite heavy rush At present there is strength of about 82 girls, which includes the students of part-I and while the admission procedure of the students for the Part-II and Part-III is still incomplete. She also said that the hostel authorities are charging Rs. 1700 per student as hostel fee besides Rs. 750 as mess charges from these girl inmates. The inmates are being provided meals thrice a day at a cost of Rs.25 per student per day.. Warden of the hostel also informed that the hostel is trying its best to provide good and hygienic food to the hostel inmates. She said when a girl student is admitted in the hostel she has to under go some rules and regulations, which are being set up by the college committee, comprising various Professors. But some of these girls inmates are unable to obey these rules and cry for more facilities, informed Sharma. |
