| Punjab comfortable against J&K in U-22 | | CK Naidu U-22 cricket tourney | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct Punjab is all set to take first innings lead over Jammu and Kashmir in the four-day C K Naidu under-22 cricket tournament being hosted by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, here. Earlier, Punjab restricted the hosts to 177 in 41.1 overs after the visitors won the toss and opted to field. Later, Punjab brought itself into a commanding position making 142 runs for the loss of four wickets. When the stumps were drawn, Sumit Sharma and Udhay Kant were at the crease with 38 and 20 in their respective accounts. Sunny who gave Punjab a good start contributed 37 runs. But soon after Sunny’s wicket fell, J&K bowlers took three quick wickets bringing Punjab under pressure. At one point of time Punjab was struggling at 66 for three but the following batsmen played patiently and brought the score to a commanding position. Rajinder (20) and Ishan (21) also played well for Punjab. From J&K, Asif bowled his heart out and on a seamer friendly wicket and took three wickets for 24 runs while Zahoor bagged one. Earlier, batting first, J&K bowled out for 177 runs in 44.5 overs. No batsman from J&K could stay on the crease and the wickets fell on regular intervals. It was bowler Mudasir who contributed highest 37 runs from J&K while Rohit Bhat and Parveen Singh contributed 23 runs each. Amanpreet Singh took three wickets for Punjab, followed by Sidharth Koul and Sarabjeet Singh, who shared two each. |
