| Azad violating coalition dharma: PDP | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 5 PDP leaders have blamed Chief Minister,Ghulam Nabi Azad, for keeping the settlement of the issue pertaining to the resignation of Qazi Mohd.Afzal following divesting him of the forest portfolio under the carpet. General secretary PDP, Nizam-ud-Din,Bhat said here today “after Qazi Afzal flashed his second letter, which was in reply to Mr Azad’s letter,in which he had said that he had resigned from the cabinet in protest against Mr Azad for not taking the PDP leadership into confidence while divesting him (Qazi) of the forest portfolio it was the moral duty of the Chief Minister to discuss the issue with either Mufti Mohd.Sayeed or Ms Mehbooba Mufti,PDP Chief. Bhat said that hitherto Mr Azad had not bothered to discuss the matter with the PDP leadership with the result the issue has remained unsettled. He said that Azad had added fuel to fire by assigning the portfolio of Housing and Urban Development to Mr Aijaz Ahmed,Minister of state. Several senior PDP leaders suspected some political conspiracy on the part of the Congress leadership in the state for harming the coalition Government. In this respect they said that they suspected some secret understanding between the Chief Minister and the National Conference leadership. In support of their contention they said that perhaps the Chief Minister wanted to help the National Conference by clearing the base of its success in the election from Ganderbal constituency where in 2002 Mr Omar Abdullah,NC Chief, had lost to Qazi Mohd.Afzal.These leaders wanted AICC Chief,Ms Sonia Gandhi, and Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh to understand the political gravity of Azad’s trick he was playing with PDP. |
