BJP alleges bungling in NREGS

State BJP has strongly criticized the large scale bunglings going on in the implementation of National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme (NREGS) in Doda, Rmaban, Kishtwar and other districts where works are being executed under this scheme.
BJP State General Secretary & former MLA Bali Bhagat said that deserving poor people have not been extended the benefit of the scheme and instead the rural works earmarked worth crores of rupees under this scheme have been alloted to the blue-eyed contractors by Rural Development Department against such works, which are not required at all like raising of bunds in different nallahs having no public utility just to draw the bills from treasury. He alleged that job cards of labourers have been prepared by the department but in many cases those have been kept with the department functionaries themselves to draw ficitious bills and the actual beneficiaries are being paid wages of 4 to 5 days instead of 100 days as is mandatory under this Central sponsored scheme.
The BJP leader alleged that this scheme has become a big source of generating illegitimate wealth for the Congress workers and its ruling personages upto the highest level. The scheme meant to provide some means of economic upliftment of the poorest of the rural poor has been instead converted into money milking cow for the Congress belying its tall claims of being a vehicle for social and economic upliftment of the vast streches of the rural areas and its poor inhabitants.
Bali Bhagat demanded that high level inquiry be conducted in the implementation of the scheme otherwise BJP would be taking the matter to the public and streets. He also urged State Vigilance Department to send a team for investigation in all such districts where works are being executed under the scheme by violating all the norms.
