| Charges against Sharma malicious, far from truth: Kaul | | Cong accuses BJP for its vilification campaign | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct6 Accusing Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for launching vilification campaign against the Congress party in general and veteran Congress leader and Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, in particular, the Block Congress Committee (BCC), Jammu West has asked the BJP to set its house in order instead of casting aspersions on the Congress party and its senior leaders. The meeting held under the chairmanship of its Block President J L Kaul has taken strong exception to the BJP charges leveled against Sharma and described these as ‘malicious and far from truth.’ ‘Afraid of the growing popularity of the veteran Congress leader, the BJP has started a vilification campaign against him’, the meeting said adding that the Jammu West Constituency has witnessed all round development under the dynamic leadership of Pt. Mangat Ram. ‘What could not be achieved over the decades’, Sharma has done it as MLA of the Constituency just in five years, the meeting felt. Describing Sharma as ‘man of the masses’, the meeting urged upon the party activists in general and the public in particular to strengthen the hands of Sharma for taking forward his mission of development of the constituency as one of the model constituency in the state. The meeting also took a review of the development activities currently under execution in the constituency and impressed upon the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of these schemes so that benefits percolate to the people at the ground . Addressing the meeting, Kaul highlighted the achievements of the Congress led government and gave a resume of the bold steps taken by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for the general good of the common masses and in this connection referred to the implementation of Roshni scheme, envisaging granting ownership rights of government land to the tillers, setting up of Finance Commission, creation of new districts and tehsils, besides ensuring liberal funding from the Centre for speedy development of the state. |
