| Vakil for early restoration of trade links across LOC | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 6 Hailing the restoration of trade between India and Pakistan via Wagah, Senior JKPCC Vice President and MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil has underscored the importance of opening Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote routes for trade purposes. “Export of tomato via Wagah is a welcome step, however, world famous Kashmir apple and handicraft products should get equal marketing facilities as these are most sought items across LOC”, he added. Addressing party workers convention at Baramulla today Mr. Vakil said that restoration of trade links between Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote, the cherished demand of the people of both sides deserved priority attention of the governments of India and Pakistan. He said “atmosphere is conducive and traders and consumers are eager to witness plying of trucks with goods of public interest crossing LOC regularly”. He appreciated Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad’s efforts in creating palatable atmosphere to initiate new CBMs and strengthen those already in place. He said in order to give boost to fruit and handicraft industries trade via Poonch-Rawalakote and Srinagar-Muzaffarbad roads was imperative. He appealed Mr. Azad to plead the case with central leadership so that Pakistan authorities were persuaded to agree to the proposal put forth by India for plying of trucks through Uri-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote road links. The convention adopted two resolutions unanimously. The first pertained to extending wholehearted support to Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad in his war against corruption and making administration transparent. The second resolution demanded smooth supply of essentials, curbing of black-marketing and improved supply of electricity in view of ensuing Shab-I-Qadar and Id-ul-Fitr. |
