| International footballer earns traffic police irk | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 6 On a two-day trip to his home town, international footballer and a regular member of country’s top football club, East Bengal, Arun Malhotra today earned the irk of the `rude’, `insensitive’ and troublesome traffic police of Jammu. On his way back from a relative’s place, Arun, with family, was stopped by the erring cops in blue at Canal Road (near Pawan ice cream parlour) and misbehaved for just not bearing the helmet, although he was carrying the driving licence and other documents. On repeated pleas from this gentleman footballer, who holds a senior position in the ONGC that he is ready to pay the penalty for not bearing the helmet, but rude constable, Rakesh K Choudhary turned deaf ear to his requests as if he (Arun) was a street boy. He even not bothered his officer, Parkash Chand (ASI), who seems to be polite. “It was not me what the game I play that the small constable was not ready to recognize. I told him (constable) that I play for India, but he was not ready to listen to me and continued misbehaving as if he is talking to a criminal,” said visibly upset Arun. When asked what he feels about such gesture at the home town, he said, “I just want to say to the top police officers, especially those manning the traffic that they must depute the sensible and educated men on the roads so that no more gentleman is tortured in his own city”. Arun is presently in Jammu on a brief visit to see his elderly parents. |
