| Mild shocks in north Kashmir | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 6 In a grim reminder of October 2005 devastating earthquake, a mild tremor rocked the northern parts of the Kashmir Valley Saturday morning. Indian Meteorological department's N.P. Bhatnagar said, "it was a minor one and it was not felt in Srinagar though reports from neighbouring areas like Ganderbal, Sumbal, Kangan and Sonamarg also felt the shock. No further details were immediately known. In 2005, a massive earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale rocked both sides of Kashmir. More than 80,000 people were killed and thousands were left homeless. Most destruction occurred in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan. |
