| Degree college for Bishnah sought | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 7 Threatening to launch a stir in support of its demand for opening of a Degree College at Bishnah, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad regretted that Bishnah being the oldest tehsil in Jammu has been deprived on this facility by the successive governments. Addressing media persons here today, Suresh Magotra National Executive Member said ‘it was irony that while the government in the recent past opened a number of new degree colleges across the state but Bishnah has not been considered’. He said in absence of a degree college the students were facing great problems as they have to travel long distances to pursue their studies. The students, majority of whom, have to come to Jammu city from the border belts and demanded establishment of a degree college in the tehsil at the earliest failing which the ABVP would come to the streets . Dermandhar Kumar, President ABVP Bishnah Unit, who was also present on the occasion, strongly pleaded for opening of a Degree College in the area and urged the Chief Minister to consider this genuine demand of the inhabitants of the border belts. He said in absence of the college, majority of the students leave their studies midway as they are not in a position to meet the heavy expenses while pursuing studies in Jammu city. |
