| Rs. 50 lakh consignment seized at Lakhanpur check post | | | Early Times Reporter

Following intensive physical checking of goods carriers by the officials of Commercial Taxes Department, another case of wrong declaration of goods worth Rs. 49,97,934 as per the invoice was meticulously detected at Lakhanpur check post.
Masood A Raja, Dy. Commissioner Commercial Taxes Lakhanpur said that Truck No. PB08AQ-5499 carrying goods consigned in favour of M/S JMU (India) Pvt. Ltd., SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahamna, Jammu registered under Tin -01361070963 (an industrial copper unit) was put to physical check and found actually carrying sheets of copper cathode as against “rejected copper scrap” declared in invoice No. 002/080 dated October 1 issued by M/S JMU India (Pvt) Ltd, Delhi., VAT form 65 bearing NO. 1/934 issued by M/S Kanpur Kashmir road lines (Regd) presented at the check post for clearance of goods. He said the vehicle along with goods has been detained for further investigation.
Notices for submission of fake and false documents have been issued in the case. Under the penal provisions of VAT Act penalty provided for said offence is 25% of the value of goods, he said adding that the claim on remission of VAT for the current year is also liable for rejection. |
