| Dogri play Suno Eh Kahani staged | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 7 Dogri play ‘Suno Eh Kahani’ written and directed by Balwant Thakur was presented here today. ‘Suno Eh Kahani is based on the story of a young girl who is being forced to marry at an early age of fourteen. “Guddi” the central character of this play is representative of a major section of rural lower middle class adolescent young girls. Who are the victims of matrimony at a very tender age. Guddi is fully aware of the strains of early marriage, as it has taken its toll in untimely death of her mother. She wants to grow and get educated before she takes up the responsibility of married life. Her dreams are shattered a suitable groom is found and marriage is fixed. While the marriage ceremonies are being performed, help comes in the form of intervention by legal authorities and decision of marriage is deferred for appropriate time. The play highlights the plight of young girls who are scarified at the redundant customs of illiterate and ignorant sections of the society. The artists who participated in the play included Mohit Sharma, Pankush Verma, Deepak Virdhi, Sajra Qadir, Ankush Lakhnotra, Rohit Verma, Gaurav Jamwal, Mayank Bakshi, Rahul Singh and Mohd. Yaseen. The lights were executed by Neeraj Kant. |
