Forest, wildlife employees presented medals

The wildlife week celebrations organized on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti by department of Wild Life Protection, concluded here this morning at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
Atal Dulloo, Commissioner Secretary to government Forest Department J&K Government was the chief guest. Principal Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu Ms. Veena Gupta presided over the function.
The objective of observing 53rd Wildlife Week was to create awareness about conservation among the people particularly the youth. The department conducted a weeklong awareness programme spread all over the state to create awareness among the people, particularly the youth for conservation of wild life and their habitat. The programmes included publication of messages of VVIP’s about Wildlife conservation interviews of senior officers through print and electronic media, debate and painting completions, cultural programmes, conservation marches, road shows and organized visits of children to national parks and Wildlife sanctuaries etc.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Dulloo highlighted the importance of conservation of Wildlife and their habitat and appealed to the people particularly the youth to make the state “ Green” and safe heaven for the rich biodiversity of the state. He declared the programmes which are to be taken up for the conservation of wildlife by the department of wildlife protection.
Veena Gupta, appealed to all, particularly the youth to help for conservation of wildlife in the best interest of mankind.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr. Sudhashu pandey, also spoke on the occasion and stressed on making wildlife laws comprehensible to common man.
The chief guest gave away the prizes to the winners of various functions organized during weeklong celebrations. The chief guest also gave away the letter of appreciation and award medal to the officers of the Forest and Wild life Department who had done commendable job for wildlife conservation. These officers included, Range Officer Wildlife Range Jammu Raja Sayeed Ahmed, Range Officer Headquarter Majid Bashir, I/C Range Officer Jasrota Khem Raj Khajuria, I/C Range Officer Kishtwar Soom Nath Bhandari, Forester Abdul Hameed, Forester Mohammad Bahsir and Manoj Kumar Helper Rajouri Wild life Range.
