Accounts employees hold protest demonstration

The functioning in all the Government Treasuries in Jammu province was paralyzed today following token strike by the Accounts employees who have been protesting against the absorption of surplus staff of public sector undertakings in the Accounts and Treasuries Department .
The JK Accounts Employees Association Jammu in a hand out claimed that the accounts personnel posted in all the four Jammu based treasuries and other civil offices held a massive protest demonstration outside the Divisional Commissioner’s office here today. Similar protest demonstrations are reported to have been held at the district headquarters at Kathua, Udhampur, Rajouri, Reasi, Poonch, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar, the handed out added.
The protesting employees raised slogans against Director, Accounts and Treasuries, M.I. Khandey for mooting this ill conceived proposal in contravention of the J&K Accounts Service Recruitment Rules. They also alleged that this move aims to adjust the blue eyed boys of some of the bureaucrats and ministers at the cost of service career of the accounts employees.
The Association President Jasbir Singh Charak reiterated that anti-employees policies of authorities shall not be tolerated and exhorted the cadre members to remain united.
Association also leveled serious charges of mismanagement, mal-practices and violation of the transfer policy against Director, Accounts and Treasuries, M.I. Khandey and Deputy Director, Accounts and Treasuries, Jammu S.R. Majotra. The real issues effecting the service career of the accounts personnel are not being settled despite submission of numerous memorandums and protests, the association alleged..
Lal Chand Sharma, Vice President alleged that the actions of the corrupt officers had given a bad name to the Department.
The Association members later presented a memorandum listing its demands to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
