On the concluding day of wildlife week, a function was organized by the department of wildlife protection here today, which was presided over the chief executive councilor, LAHDC, and Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karabalai. Besides executive councilors, councilors, district officers, officers of forest and wildlife and large number of people were also present on the occasion. On the occasion, CEC, highlighted the importance of wild life and forest and stressed upon the students and people for their active involvement for their preservation of natural heritage. He directed wildlife functionaries to conduct survey of unique and special fana and flora and brought out in the shape of pamphlets, poster for distribution general information of the students. The funds for the purpose will be allotted by the hill council he said. He empathized the urgency to aware the posterity about the significance of the protection of wildlife. He said that numerous species of birds and animal have been extinguished and the efforts should be made to save the others to make this earth more beautiful. Divisional forest officer, C. Behera gave a brief resume of the activities of wildlife and highlighted the importance for preservation of wild animal. Highlighting the biological significant areas and wildlife, the range officer wildlife protection, Mohd. Abbas said that Kargil is the repository of birds like lame gier, snow cock, partridge, while winged red start and wildlife like snow leopard, ibex, shapoo, bear etc and stressed the need of its preservation. The chief guest later distributed prizes among those who adjudged as its, second and third position in the symposium. |
