| Ranjeet hits 69 in Kathua Blues’ easy 9-wkt win | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Oct 8 A superb knock of unbeaten 69 by Ranjeet today steered Kathua Blues to an easy nine-wicket victory over Kashyap Cricket Club in the ongoing Satish Sharma memorial under-19 cricket tournament at Parade ground, here. Ranjeet faced mere 30 balls to make 69 runs studded with 11 boundaries and two towering sixes, including one that fall in the Police Control Room. Ranjeet, who also took a wicket and a good catch, was later adjudged as man of the match. With today’s victory, hosts Kathua Blue have made it into the semi-finals, thereby becoming the first team to reach last four stage of the tournament. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Kashyap Club lost all their wickets for 101 runs in 19.5 overs of the 30 overs match. Sohan Singh was top scorer with 15 runs while Abitesh and Waseem contributed 11 and 10 (n o) runs respectively. From Kathua Blue, Nitin, Kanav Sathe and Paras took two wickets each. Divya, Ranjeet and Farooq shared a piece each. In reply to Kashyap Club’s small total, Kathua Blues batsmen start hitting the opponent bowers hard and attained their goal in 11 overs for the loss of one wicket. While Ranjeet made 69, Puneet Nischal, other unbeaten batsman, contributed 24 runs including three boundaries. The only wicket which Kathua Blues lost was taken by Arif Gul. The man of the match trophy was presented to Ranjeet by Ashok Singh, who was special invitee in today’s match. The match was officiated by Santa Singh and Brij Mohan. Next match: Khalsa Cricket Club to take on Shastri Cricket Club at 8.30 am tomorrow.
