| Rajouri beat Srinagar 1-0 in school hockey | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Oct 8 District Rajouri outplayed Srinagar by a solitary goal to consolidate their position in the school hockey (under-17) round-robin league competitions being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at K K Stadium, here today. In this inter-Division competitions four three teams from both the divisions are taking part. On the basis of performance one of these teams will be representing the state in the forthcoming Jawahar Lal Nehru (under-17) boys hockey tournament to be held at New Delhi by the end of this month. It is pertinent to mention here that the Divisions are being represented by the finalists of inter-district competitions. From Kashmir division, only district Srinagar turned up for the competitions whereas from Jammu both finalists of Rajouri and Kathua are taking part. In the two matches played today, Rajouri defeated Srinagar 1-0 while second match between Kathua and Srinagar ended in a draw,. Now, the state champion will be decided by tomorrow’s last match to be played between district Kathua and Srinagar. Earlier, the two-day competitions were declared open by the Deputy Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports, S A Wani, who was accompanied by the Assistant Director, SS Bali. Among others present were Dalip Singh, Tirath Ram and Raj Kumar Sharma, all Physical Education Masters. |
