| So Says Soz…..! | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Oct 8 While the tug of war among the coalition partners was already going on that a new feat of uncertainty has emerged within the Congress party on the issue of dominant leadership in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is not happy with the increased presence and activity of Union Water Resources Minister Saif-ud-Din Soz in Jammu and Kashmir affairs. "Soz is seen poking his presence in party as well as administrative affairs which is being projected in some quarters as emergence of a parallel leadership in the state", said a senior Congress leader who preferred not named. As already reported in our today's issue, Prof Said-ud-Din Soz is making an increased concentration in Jammu and Kashmir. Among Azad loyalists this is being seen as something on the directives of senior Congress leaders in New Delhi who want to put a tab on the profile and powers of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. Even though, Azad never had any direct problem with Soz, but emergence of latter's name as runner for the post of Chief Ministership in Jammu and Kashmir in 2005 gave a new dimension to the party weightage to the cult leadership. Even though the senior Congress leaders skirted this as a rumour, but name of Soz is doing rounds in the political circles as 10 Janpath's next choice for Jammu and Kashmir. Of late, Soz has been frequently visiting Jammu and Kashmir but till recently his engagements primarily remained with party affairs in Kashmir Valley or some functions pertaining to his department of Water Resources. However, now Soz is seeking his presence in official matters of the state as well. Later this month he will be the chief guest at a high profile function being organized by the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Sources pointed out that his increased activity in the state has the Chief Minister upset on many accounts. "Soz has been with the Congress since 1999 but his line of activity has never been seen as so proactive the way he moving these days", said a Congress leader who added, "this cant be without blessings from New Delhi. |
