SAD warns against ignoring communities

State unit of Shriomani Akali Dal on Tuesday warned govt of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Govt against ignoring the interests of Sikhs, Hindus and Christians.
Condemning the biased attitude of the central govt, working president of the state unit of SAD Gurdev Singh said Govt is adopting biased approach towards minority community by ignoring their justified claims. Referring to publication of reports in media, Singh said out of 753 scholarships earmarked for minority communities in J&k 717 were marked for majority community i. e muslims and 2 for Christians , 22 for sikhs and 12 for Buddhists. He said Govt of India need to explain as how come 717 scholarships are marked for muslims who are in majority in the state and Sikhs, hindus, Christians who are in minority are being denied the benefit of post matric scholarships for students of minority communities.
Addressing the joint press conference SAD leaders and members of the district Gurudwara Prabandhak committee warned if their concerns remain unaddressed the members of these communities will be pushed to adopt extreme ways of getting redressal. They said despite making numerous representations both the central and the state govt have failed to acknowledge them .
”We are still awaiting response of the Prime Minister as we have also raised the issue during his recent visit to Jammu besides handing him the representation”.
Kehar Singh,Amrik Saingh,Capt Hazara Singh,Jarnal Singh, Paramjeet Singh Pamma,Satinder Singh Sethis, Makhan Singh on behalf of sikh masses of Jammu and Kashmir also extended thanks to Jathedars of all the five Takhats including Shri Akl Takht sahib for their program of offering Amrit di data to sikh masses of the state. Gurbachan Singh Datta , President SAD JK and Dayal Singh general secretary thanked Avtar Singh ,President Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak committee Punjab for firming up program of organizing Amrit Sanchar samagam in association with Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nagali Sahib in the premises of Mahant Bachitter Singh college of engg and tech on October 13, 2007.The SAD leaders also appealed to the sikh masses to be present on this holy occasion and have holy nectar at the hands of 5 Sikh Sahibans.
