| 2 HM militants killed, Constable injured in Sopore | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 9 Day after the announcement of unilateral truce by the Jehad Council, Police claimed to have killed two militants in village Wagub of Sopore, here this morning. Official sources quoting DIG Baramulla, Dr. B Srinivas told News Agency of Kashmir that on specific information, Police cordoned off village Wagub Sopore where the militants were reportedly hiding in a house. Spokesman said that the house belonging to Ghulam Mohammad Mir, son of Abdul Ahad Mir was zeroed in and the militants were asked to surrender. One of the militants, he said came out from the hideout and started firing on the Policemen who returned fire and militant was killed. However, one Constable of J&K Police namely Sanjay Kumar No. 1855/B got injured. The injured constable was rushed to SMHS Srinagar for treatment, Spokesman added. According to ASP Sopore Police continued cordon of the house for the whole night and sought reinforcement. This morning at about 0900 hours Police another militant was gunned down with assistance of 29 and 52 RR, he added. He claimed that both the militants belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen, have been identified as Lateef Ahmad alias Furkaan, son of Mohammad Ramzan, resident of Wagub Sopore and Rafiq Ahmad Shah, son of Noor-ud-Din Shah, resident of Chand Kote Kreeri. Lateef has crossed over to Pakistan for Arms training on 1999 and had returned June this year and was functioning as Battalion Commander of HM for Sangrama Sopore. Two AK 47 rifles, Eight AK magazines, 40 AK rounds and two pouches were recovered from the site of encounter. |
