Under government rules a government teacher cannot give private tuitions but teachers care little about the directives issued by the government from time to time and continue to fleece parents of such students. Undoubtedly, education sector in the state has become an industry where such teachers have been making good money to lead a luxurious life. “A teacher cannot teach outside the college, especially when his services yield some monetary gain,” said Director Colleges Development, Prof ND Wani. “There are provisions for action against such teachers giving private tuitions and we are on the job to find out such individuals, who are brining bad name to the department,” said Prof Wani. The Director even went to the extent of ensuring action against errant teachers if anyone including this correspondent furnishes him a list of “violators”. “Give me a list of such teachers and action will be immediately initiated against them,” he added. “I ask you to please help me in identify erring teachers and submit me a list of 10-12 such individuals because we cannot allow private tuitions to the college teachers,” said Wani, former Principal of the GGM Science College. On being asked that some college teachers have not been transferred for decades together from Jammu city, he was quick in his reply saying that the Higher Education Department is preparing a list of such teachers who have not been sent outside the city for decades together or for that matter those transferred not attending to their duties regularly. “The Directorate has managed to prepare a list of teachers who now have a prolonged stay in the city and are indulging in private tuitions at the cost of their official duties, I ensure you that in the next academic session such complaints will be looked into while ordering transfers of college teachers,” disclosed the Director. However, he maintained that if a specific complaint is lodged with him, he will certainly initiate action under laid norms. |
