| Jugal invites people to participate in Navratras festival | | | Early Times Reporter Katra | Oct 9 Minister for Rural Development Jugal Kishore Sharma has fervently appealed to the people to fully involve themselves in the successful conduct of Navratras festival 2007 scheduled to be held at Katra w.e.f October 12th to 20th October 2007. Addressing a joint meeting of senior officers of civil, police, shrine board, education, song & drama division GOI and Navratras celebration committee members here today, the Minister sought cooperation of various organizations who have been playing active role since inception of this religious festival to make it. The meeting was convened to discuss measures for smooth conduct this year Navratras festival being organized jointly by the Shrine Board, Tourism Department and various associations, organizations and state departments.It was decided in the meeting that inaugural ceremony will be held on 12th October at 10 a. m near Asia Chowk Katra with lighting the traditional lamp and cultural procession which will commence its journey after passing through town bazaar and would culminate at Bus stand where the main function would be held. Likewise, big and attractive hoardings will be installed at prominent places right from Lakhanpur to Katra to give wide publicity to the festival, super specialist medical camps will be held cultural programme by school children, song & drama division GOI, Jagran by renowned artist Narinder Chanchal on 3rd Navratra, Ethnic food festival and Ghumai a play by Natrang on 19th October besides daily cultural procession, religions discourse, poney/pitho competition, famous All India devotional song competition will be held during the festival. During the inauguration of the festival, flower petals will showered from house roofs and buildings through Helicopter arranged by Shrine Board and Katra Municipality. Jugal Sharma asked the PWD authorities and Katra Municipal Committee to install five hand pumps Chai da bagh, Panthal, Dakshin, Bus stand and Kunia so that neither the tourists nor the local have to face water scarcity or related problems. He asked the Xen PWD Katra to complete the widening of Bus stand-Banganga road before the end of this month. President Indian Style Wrestling Association Mr Shiv Kumar Sharma apprised that a Rustam Indo-Pak Dangal will also be held on 3rd Navratra. Besides, Hassaya Vayang Manch will also present its programmes during all days including Hassaya Kavi Sammelan by reputed artists. To give festive look to the town well decorated welcome gates with ornamental illumination will be established besides all necessary arrangements including drinking water, lighting, sanitation, fire tender services and security will be ensured. The bands of police, CRPF, BSF will also participate in the festival informed Divisional Commissioner Jammu Mr Sudhanshu Pandey, who is also chairman of the Navratra festival celebration committee. He sought the cooperation of local associations to make the festival a grand success and assured the Minister that all necessary arrangements will be made to add magnificent colours to this mega festival. The Minister suggested to keep a provision of gifts for VVIP and VIPs participating in the festival and make it a ritual for every year. He also made it mandatory for every department to installed their hoardings enroute procession path and other prominent places. Among others, the meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Reasi Mr Sanjeev Verma, Director Rural Development Department Mr M K Dwivedi, Joint Director Information Mr S K Sharma, Dy Chief Executive Officer SMVSB, Director Tourism Jammu Mr Ajay Khajuria, DIG Udhampur-Reasi, SSP Reasi, CEO Udhampur, Addl SPs Udhampur and Katra, Addl DC Reasi, AC Revenue Reasi, Chief Engineer PHE, XEN Power Udhampur, President Municipal Committee Katra, CMO Reasi, President Hotel and Restaurant Association Katra and Chief Accounts Officer SMVSB and committee members of Navratras celebration and local officers were present in the meeting. |
