To register its protest against the ill-functioning of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in providing satisfactory services to the customers, particularly the mobile service, the activists of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), led by State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, today held protest demonstration outside BSNL office, Rani Park, and burnt effigy of BSNL.
The protest demonstration was organized by President Ward No. 10 Anil Masoom. The party activists were carrying placards in their hands raising slogans like- ‘Mobile Service Theek Karo’, ‘public dealing sudharo’
Yudhvir Sethi, speaking on the occasion, charged the BSNL authorities in the state of giving very humiliating treatment to the customers whenever they visit with any service-related complaint. Due to its over busy network, BSNL has been converted into ‘Busy Sanchar Nigam Limited’, he charged . He said the bills to the customers reach too late, mostly days after the last date of depositing the bill and most of the customers have to depend on messages received on cell phones. These messages contain only amount to be deposited and the last date etc. and no call details are mentioned. He further charged the BSNL of providing very poor GPRS Service as the internet facility remains cut off for hours together in a single day. Not only this, the quality of sound of received calls on mobiles is also poor and that the person attending the call cannot understand what the caller wants to convey.
Sethi demanded a thorough probe into the decline of BSNL share percentage from 100 percent to 60 per cent in the market as compared to private sector companies dealing in the same field, which are gaining their hold in the market. He asked the BSNL authorities to educate its staff as to how to deal with the customers, ensure timely delivery of mobile bills and upgrade its infrastructure to provide quality service to the customers.
Prominent party activists, who took part in the protest demonstration, included Balbir Ram, Dharamvir Sethi, Rajiv Charak, Ramesh Sharma, Pawan Pandoh, Anil Masoom, Rakesh Gupta, Bittu Pradhan, Vijay Mehra, Ashok Gupta, Tarsem Jain, Arun Sethi, Vikrant Singh, Ajay Gupta, Sanjeev Anand, Tinka Sardar, Ajay Jain, Parvesh Kumar, Surinder Choudhary, Sunny, Sher Singh and Ishan.
