Jammu, Dec 17: Under the directions of Commissioner JMC, Manmohan Singh, KAS and Joint Commissioner (Adm.) R.S Jamwal, KAS, the Municipal Veterinary Officer, Jaswant Singh along with other staff conducted surprise drive at Janipur, Newplot, CPO Chowk Panjtirthi, etc. and checked various meat shops. During the drive, various meat shops were checked and it was found that some of the meat sellers was selling unstamped meat and even some were found selling it by hanging it outside their shops. During the drive a fine to the tune of Rs 7100 was realized from the defaulters and on spot instructions along with strict warning was given to the meat sellers that not to sell sub-standard/unwholesome meat to the consumers at any cost. Municipal Veterinary Officer has appealed to all the meat shopkeepers dealing with meat/chicken products to maintain hygienic environment in and around their shops and make available quality meat to the consumers. |
