Poonch, Dec 17:An allegedly drunk teacher today beat up a man in Mankote area of the district in broad daylight, creating a scene. According to eyewitnesses, Tahir Iqbal, son of Khadim Hussain of Mankote, created a scene in broad daylight after entering in local mosque where he allegedly beat up some molvis at about 2.30 pm. In the meantime, some relatives of the teacher, who was alleged to be under the influence of liquor, gathered on the Mendhar-Poonch road, alleging that it were the moulvis who had beaten the teacher, sources said. Senior officers, including the Mendhar SDPO, reached the spot and asked the protestors to restore the highway. Talking to Early Times, the SDPO said that they had arrested the teacher and put him in the lock up of Mankote police station. Action under law would be initiated against him, the SDPO added. |
