Son kills father: Police solves murder of Dal Gate businessman

A spine chilling blind murder case of businessman Nazir Ahmad Mahajan, which had aroused a lot of hue and cry in valley last month, was solved today and the killer is none other than his own son.
Official sources quoting SSP Srinagar said that police station Rajbagh received an information on 25th September 2007 that a dead body packed in a gunny bag is lying' in the Income Tax street falling under the jurisdiction of PS Rajbagh.
Police, Sources said on receiving information rushed to the spot and took the dead body into possession which was later identified as Nazir Ahmad Mahajan, son of Ghulam Ahmad Mahajan, resident of Samudarbagh, Srinagar.
The family of the deceased had already lodged a missing report in PS Khanyar on 24th September at 11 PM. "The police call details of the mobile phone of deceased were analyzed which revealed that the deceased had talked last to his friend namely Bilal Ahmad of Sonwar at 10.36AM. Bilal who was questioning revealed that "the talk was regarding sending some customers to the shop of the deceased, and deceased agreed stating that he is in the showroom at Konkhon, Dalgate?" SSP quoting the statements of the son of the deceased.
The salesman of the two shops of the deceased and the son were also questioned.
The statements of the son and salesman regarding the movement of deceased was contradictive, Police got suspicious, and further questioning revealed that the son of the deceased was in side the showroom and had asked his salesman to lock the shop from outside on 24 th September 2007, the day the deceased was seen last.
SSP said that the Police party searched the showroom cum shop at Khonkon and found blood strains, and bird feathers. The call details of the son of the deceased Zubair Nazir Mahajan were also analyzed which stated that he was in constant touch with one of his friend namely Suhail Ahmad Bhat, son of Mehrajdin, resident of Rajouri Kadal till the disappearance of the deceased. Questioning of Suhail revealed the nefarious designs of Zubair, the son of the deceased who wanted to kill his father at any cost. When the father was writing the prize tags in the shop, the son and his friend attacked the deceased from behind at his head and killed him in a cold blooded manner. The duo cleaned the shop, kept the body in a gunny bag in the shop, Zubair further revealed. Zubair Nazir Mahajan the son of the deceased went back to the home after disposing of his father's body. Police recovered the van used in deposing off the body and a case has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh.
