| CM visits Hazratbal shrine, reviews arrangements Eid | | First phase of Haj House to commission next month | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Oct 10 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today visited Hazratbal shrine to oversee arrangements for Jumat ul Wida and inspect expansion works in the shrine premises. Accompanied by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mehboob Iqbal, IGP, S. M. Sahai and senior officers of various departments, the Chief Minister enquired about various development works going on to upgrade the ambience of the shrine complex and expand space for prayer ground to accommodate more worshippers during congregational prayers. The Chief Minister also met local people including some house owners whose structures are being removed under the expansion programme. The Chief Minister patiently listened to their point of view and asked the concerned officers to look into their problems and try to resolve these immediately so that the land acquisition and expansion work is completed soon. On this occasion, representatives of local people thanked the Chief Minister for his special interest in the development for the shrine complex and creation of tehsil for Hazratbal, an educationally and religiously important place. They also appreciated the personal interest taken by the Chief Minister in the improvement of internal roads in the area and said it had given a great relief to local population, especially motorists. The locals demanded relocation of fire service station in view of the limited space for the facility. The Chief Minister said that after Eid ul Fitr he would again visit the area and take detailed stock of the issues confronting the locals. The Chief Minister paid obeisance at the revered shrine. Imam of the shrine mosque, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Farooqi and caretakers of the shrine were present. On this occasion, special prayers were held for the welfare of the people of the State. The Chief Executive Officer, Muslim Wakf Board, Altaf Ahmad Andrabi informed the Chief Minister that all arrangements have been put in place for Jumat ul Wida and Eid prayers at the shrine. Adequate arrangements for transport, water, electricity, medicare and sanitation have been made to facilitate people attending congregational prayers on these two important occasions falling in quick succession. Later, the Chief Minister also visited Bemina to inspect pace of work on the Haj House coming up at a cost of Rs. 10.50 crores. The first phase of the project, comprising four common facility blocks including reception cum lounge, paper collection, baggage and immigration blocks, would be completed by the month end. The total area of the complex is 50 kanals. The Chief Minister visited different sections of the complex and asked the concerned project execution agency to speed up the work saying that the Haj House would be functional in November this year with Haj pilgrims proceeding from here after completing custom, immigration and boarding card formalities for which separate counters would be in place. He said the Haj House would emerge as an iconic site in Srinagar City and serve as a single point facility centre for the pilgrims. |
