Div Com inspects Udhampur-Srinagar Railway track

To assess the pace of ongoing construction work on railway track from Udhampur to Srinagar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr Sudhanshu Pandey visited village Khouri about 120 km away from Jammu in Arnas block of Reasi district yesterday evening.
District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Mr Sanjeev Verma, Executive Director, Konkon Railway, Mr Vinod Kumar and Chief Engineer, Mr S.P Mahi accompanied the Divisional Commissioner.
Executive Director alongwith Chief Engineer of Konkon Railway apprised the Divisional Commissioner that the construction of railway track from Reasi onward was started during the year 2004 and so far 22 percent construction work has been completed. Against on allocation of Rs.512.74 crore, an amount of Rs.107.23 crore have been expended so far on the construction of this railway track and the further construction work is in progress at all the locations ahead from Kouri to Sangaldan side. There will be 85 tunnels and 63 bridges on this railway track, they further added.
Pandey was further apprised about the construction of world’s highest 385 meters high double lane railway bridge on river Chenab connecting village Bakal and Kouri. The whole data was shown on video screen showing the hilly and tough terrain taken in hand by the railway authorities. He also visited the workshop of railway at Kouri and appreciated the railway authorities for setting up of this workshop.
Pandey expressed satisfaction over the ongoing construction work on the railway track especially performance of the railway authorities for the construction of various link roads by which lakhs of ruralites would have permanent road connectivity. He asked the DDC, Reasi for horticulture development in new of its vast scope in the area for raising socio-economic conditions of the rural masses.
The DDC apprised Mr Pandey that he has already initiated the process of horticulture development in whole of the district.
Earlier, the Divisional Commissioner alongwith DDC Reasi inspected the proposed site for industrial area comprising 932 kanals of land at Bidda near Jyotipuram and asked the DDC to go ahead with out line map of the area for further completion of the industrial project. Mr Verma further apprised the Div Com regarding generating of one MW elective power through wind from the location.
The Div Com alongwith DDC Reasi, Tehsil and Additional Tehsildar also visited historic Shiv Khouri Shrine and after paying obeisance also took stock of arrangements already made for the visiting devotees.
